An "impossible function" conquered
First Class Education
First Class Education is a Continuing education company with certificate level classes for the real estate sector in NYC. They needed a better system to disseminate certificates of completion (a legal requirement to prove credits were given). After going to other developers, they were told what they want was “impossible”. Then they came to us, where impossible is not in our vocabulary.
Customized Functionality
“I was told it was not possible” was how our conversation started with Marcela at FCE. We listened to their need to set up a better system to disseminate completed certificates to many students. By asking specific questions to get a better understanding of the business and its needs, we took it to our dev team. After working it out, we were able to not only devise a solution to the ask, but added a level of automation that was beyond the initial discussions of scope, making the process even easier than asked.

When they have brought in new employees, we have been able to train them on the system we set up so they can get up to speed quickly without disrupting the workflow.
Project Scope
The old system was a tedious and manual one. referencing class attendance charts—which were created with a Google form—and then repeatedly and manually updating the class certificate template. Having to change the name of the student, title of the class, number of credits received and the date of the class. Upon completion, they then emailed the complete certificate to each student. With hundreds of students month, the process was being time consuming
They needed an automated system. By leveraging ACF, Gravity forms, Events Calendar, Events Registration and E2PDF CDT Workshop was able to set up a new system. Now when a student registers for a class on the website. The list of registrants are organized by class and all students now appear in the backend on a list with checkboxes. Every student that completed the course gets their checkboxes selected and then they are all simultaneously sent an email that contains a unique link that each student can click to download their own certificate (complete with all the required information).
This has allowed FEC (and their sister certification classes, Next Level Certifications) to concentrate more on creating more classes and not spending unneeded hours on administration.
